HOME REPAIR GRANTS - HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
From D9 Councilors office... Please see the attached document for Habitat for Humanity roofing project. Remember that homeowner’s insurance is required in order to receive funding. You can reach Habitat at phone number (205) 780-1234. Also, the Community Action Agency has taken over JCCEO’s Weatherization Program repairs include: installation of attic, wall, and floor insulation, sealing duct work, HVAC tune ups and/or repairs, windows, doors, and replacing incandescent lights with LED bulbs. Participants can reach the Community Action Agency at phone number (256) 899-8760. The Critical Repair Program include roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural repairs. Although, the program is on hold due to the contractors COVID backlog. If you have any questions, please call them at (205) 254-2443. Hood's Qwik Mart License Vote Passed
Hood's Qwik Mart store will make application for a liquor license transfer to Yagoub Saleh Mohamed, the son of the curent owner. The neighborhood voted approval at its May 17, 2022 meeting. Mr. Sam has agreed to the upkeep of the facilities, keeping landscape clean and working with the police department to reduce vagrants at the location. The recent improvements to the store will be maintained. He has been a supporter of neighborhood events, sports activities for our youth and North Pratt Neighborhood Association clean up days. We are pleased to work with businesses that serve and reinvest in the neighborhood and larger community. And we pledge to keep a watchful eye to ensure that businesses operate legally and treat customers fairly.

Nominations for the World Games “Circle of Champions” We would love to receive your nomination for The World Games “Circle of Champions.” To commemorate The World Games, the City of Birmingham, Community Resource Services Division, in partnership with the World Games 2022, will be recognizing 23 individuals who exemplify leadership in their communities. This special recognition is for community change agents who have a long and tangible track record of results and of making an impact in the community in which they live and the industries in which they serve. Those individuals will be asked to sit within The World Games' “Circle of Champions.” Nominations will be accepted between now through April 22nd.
