URBANIZATION - THE PROS AND CONS

Image
sOURCE: https://www.ablison.com/urbanization-pros-and-cons/ As we seek to enhance the aesthetic and economy of our city, there must be a focus on limiting the negative impact of massive redevelopment. Initiatives such as the new Birmingham City Schools directed financial education for students are critical to avoiding "Catch-22" impacts of growth. Key questions, among others might be: How can displacement of legacy residents be avoided? What programs can be enacted to appreciate the value of legacy homes and maintain historically significant communities?

HOMEOWNERSHIP BASED DEVELOPMENT COMING TO PRATT CITY?

For years we have pushed the narrative that we are 100% in support of development in Pratt City and North Pratt in particular with a focus on homeownership. Unfortunately over the past few years we have been faced wqith a debacle yet unresolved at the site of the Shadowbrookndevelopmen. With it has come increased flooding and sewer issues for the adjacent established area. Also with an increase in investor owned properties in the area there has been an increase in unkempt properties, trash dumping, undesirable tenant behavior, etc. We are excited to learn that new development, at least according to the slant of this article, will be focused on the development of homeownership based units.
