All non-emergency City Hall offices will close at noon on Friday, July 29.
* BPD to give away backpacks to Birmingham families *
Birmingham Police Department is hosting a backpack giveaway on Saturday, July 30 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. See attached flyer for details.
* Operation Hope launches new digital platform *
Operation Hope is excited to announce the launch of a new digital platform which will improve the process and overall employee experience. Going forward, all City of Birmingham employees will need to register for workshops and/or one-on-one coaching using a customized HOPE code. See attached for instructions.
* Food Truck Friday to return in August *
The popular Food Truck Friday event will return to Short 20th Street in front of City Hall on Friday, Aug. 5 from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. See attached for details.

The city to host blood drive
The City of Birmingham will once again host a blood drive on Wednesday, August 3. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Boutwell Auditorium, which is located at 1930 Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. To make an appointment, go to redcrossblood.org and enter the code: BHM. Donors receive a $20 Amazon gift card and T-shirt.

Agility tests given on Friday
The City of Birmingham will host an agility test for laborers and refuse workers at Legion Field on Friday, August 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. See flyer for details.
Art on the Rocks
Art On The Rocks is back on Friday, August 5. Don’t miss the biggest art party in Birmingham featuring a concert by Grammy-winning artist Eric Bellinger. Since 2005, Art On The Rocks has enlivened downtown by bringing the best of Birmingham’s creative community to the Birmingham Museum of Art. Enjoy live music, DJs, an interactive mural, breakdancing performances, and much more. Tickets are $35.
International Beer Day with Bards & Brews
Celebrate International Beer Day with Bards & Brews at Birmingham Public Library’s Open Mic. The event is Friday, August 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Carrigan's Beer Garden, 2910 6th Ave South. Local percussionist Barry Johnson is opening the night with a drum solo. Johnson is a leading member of Sahi On Ko Djony, a West African cultural enrichment program. Open mic is free to attend and perform. Attendees must be 21 and up with proof of I.D. to drink. See attached for details.
